Join the Entry Level Fire Protection/Plumbing Designer role involving system design, drawing production, and coordination at Dewberry!

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Work with a project team and assist in the design of fire protection and plumbing systems.
  • Field verification of existing systems, available space, clearances, etc.
  • Load calculations, hydraulic calculations, sizing and selecting equipment, piping design, and editing of specifications.
  • Prepare design documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit software in accordance with Dewberry standards.
  • Assist project engineer on reports, calculations, computer simulations, and design of fire protection and plumbing systems.
  • Arrange for in-house quality review to ensure client needs and requests are accommodated.
  • Ensure and coordinate among all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Conduct construction site inspections, obtain as-built drawings, and closeout materials from contractors.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Bachelor of science in architectural engineering or mechanical engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of multiple disciplines.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred; good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Valid driver’s license and background check required.
